Active Folic nutritional supplement contains the active form of folic acid – Quatrefolic® – the latest 4th generation folate, which, unlike synthetic folic acid, no longer needs to be transformed in the body but is immediately available. Active Folic is also suitable for people with the MTHFR mutation, which is found in up to 57% of the population.

Folic acid – folate contributes to the growth of germinal epithelium during pregnancy. It helps the immune system to work properly, reduces exhaustion and fatigue and encourages proper mental function. It contributes to proper amino acid synthesis and plays a role in the cell division process. It also helps to correct homocysteine transformation in the body, for proper blood production.

In order for the body to use folic acid it must metabolize it into a biologically active form, 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, via a multi-stage process in which the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) enzyme plays a key role. Genetic mutations, such as polymorphism, may impair the activity of the MTHFR enzyme. For this reason, the organism of some individuals can not convert enough folic acid to active the folate. It is believed that MTHFR polymorphism occurs in up to 57% of the population.

Quatrefolic® is a glucosamine salt of (6S) -5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid and is structurally analogous to a biologically active form of folic acid. It is a metabolized form of folic acid that is no longer dependent on the MTHFR enzyme, and it can be used directly by the organism, even in people with the MTHFR mutation.

Another advantage is that Quatrefolic® passes through the gastric barrier and is absorbed mainly in the small intestine by a process facilitated by a glucosamine salt carrier, which ensures the extremely high water solubility of Quatrefolic® and therefore higher folate absorption and better bioavailability.

Recommended dosage:

Children from 14 years of age and adults: 1 tablet per day.

Women planning pregnancy and pregnant women by the end of the 12th week of pregnancy: 2 tablets per day.

Pregnant women from the 13th week of pregnancy and breastfeeding women: 1 tablet per day.
